The boys and girls did an awesome job yesterday at the Central Jersey Group 2 Championships. Although the Asbury Park Press failed to mention it, Jon Friedel won the boys 1600m, running a very smart race and finding the heart to leave everyone else in the dust in the last 300m of the race. The meet started off with the 400m where Kathleen Byrket and Emily Hennessey finished 4th and 6th qualifying for the State Championships next weekend. In the next race on the track Freshman Lennon Cooper and Senior Cathay Zhao also finished 4th and 6th in the girls mile and qualified for the next round. As the meet continued Keri Lee and Mike Hoffman ran personal bests to get into the finals of the hurdles and then both managed to finish 6th and move on to next weekend. Stefan Stark finished 5th in the mile and will join Jon next weekend. Also joining Jon next week for the boys will be Jon Tai who placed 6th in the 800m and Oliver Song who won the silver in the boys 3200m On the girls side freshman Lauren Byrket refused to let her sister go to the meet next weekend without her and ran two huge PB's in the 55m dash 5th in a time of 7.90 and was the only freshman under 8 seconds at the whole meet. Lennon Cooper decided one medal wasn't enough and came back to run the 3200m where despite getting boxed in at the worst time of the race finished 5th. Finishing out the day was the girls 4x4 where Emily Hennessy, Julianne Kodack, Keri Lee, and Kathleen Byrket finished 5th.
Great Job to everyone who showed up and competed! Just getting on the track or stepping in the circles is often the most imprtant thing you will do.

Sorry - but at least I got it right one time! "Finishing out the day was the girls 4x4 where Emily Hennessy, Julianne Kodack, Keri Lee, and Kathleen Byrket finished 5th." : )
