Another hot day, but once again you girls fought through the heat and turned in some great performances. In the field we continued to shine with Jen Lee throwing over 27' in the shot and over 102' in the javelin - WOW!!!! Niyati had another strong showing in the disc and a season best in the shot. Michelle threw all three events and with a 70'+ throw in the disc and another 90+' throw in the Jav. Finally, Nicole Bono finally returned to the competition scene with stong efforts in all three throws, especially the Jav where she threw 81'. SPECIAL THANKS TO MISS HOFFMAN FOR HER HELP YESTERDAY. WE/I OWE YOU BIG TIME.
On the track the usual suspects were racing again. Rachel Williams had a very strong 800(2nd place) which she followed up later with a killer 400 split of 64.5. Emily Hennessy was third in the 100, but came back for a 2nd in the 200, almost edging out one of the better sprinters in monmouth county. Freshman Katie Little jumped back into the varsity races and had a nice mile race finishing 2nd with a 5:53. Jill Sadowski finished strong in the mile out kicking the SJV girl to place third. Julianne Kodack ran a hard open 400 against a strong group of girls from SJV, but not happy with that performance came back as the anchor for the 4x4 where she blew away her previous PB and ran an unbelievable 62.6 split. I don't know if she can see it, but I see 60 sec in the future.
But without a doubt the Queen Hornet of this meet was Dorrie Lee who blasted her way to a first place finish in the 400 hurdles and the 100 hurdles and then tied fro the second in the HJ. Someone please explain to me why she hasn't been running hurdles since freshman year?????
GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!! I AM REALLY PROUD OF THIS TEAM AND HOW WELL WE ARE WORKING TOGETHER. EVERY MEET YOU GET BETTER AND THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE TEAMWORK AND CONNECTIONS THAT ARE BEING CREATED THIS YEAR. WE ARE FREE FROM MEETS UNTIL NEXT THURSDAY (COUNTY CHAMPS) EXCEPT FOR A FEW DISTANCE FROSH/SOPHS WHO ARE GOING FRIDAY TO METUCHEN WITH COACH REDDING.
